Happy (Frances) Valentine's Day!

Happy (Frances) Valentine's Day!

Jason Oliver Nixon |

Ha, ha, no it’s not quite Valentine’s Day, but John and I are thinking back to the release of a recent Spring campaign for our friends at lifestyle brand Frances Valentine that was photographed a while back at the House of Bedlam.

Fun, right?

And a perfect brand alignment.

Started by the legendary Kate Spade and her friend Elyce Arons (along with other partners), the Frances Valentine brand captures a certain throwback resort-styled glamour that works just as well in Manhattan as it does in the bougainvillea-draped vias of Palm Beach.

Packed with prints and patterns.

And the House of Bedlam proved to be the perfect setting—both indoors and out—for the latest Frances Valentine collections.

But how did we land the campaign? I emailed the Frances Valentine team on Instagram last spring with photos of the House of Bedlam and, luckily, received a response, and we went from there. How’s that?

So fast forward…

The FV team flew down from Manhattan to High Point, North Carolina (including the wonderfully gracious and funny Elyce Arons!), and we spent two days photographing up, down, and sideways. We laughed, we chatted, we fluffed, and we had a great time.

Even the pups got in on the action, with Weenie making a star turn on the last page of the new Frances Valentine catalogue.

Frances Valentine and Madcap Cottage. The perfect pairing.

Here, some photos from the shoot.

Bring the adventure home!

Hi Jason and John,, WOW! Fab website! I’m a long-standing Trade Client of Cromwell Furniture in Melbourne, Australia and I just received their latest email launching your lamps. The Nantucket Lamp! Makes me wonder why no one, until now, created a gingham lamp base. It’s gorgeous. Whilst I will submit it to clients…don’t be surprised if it also ends up in one of my still life paintings. I have a collection of Auricula botanical paintings which are also available as high quality prints on paper…they might be of interest to you one day for a particular project? My website (which needs help… yours has given me great inspiration) is and my insta is. #cashmereturtle. I’ve subscribed to MadcapCottage so look forward to future postings. Sincerely, Warm Regards. from Oz, Gwenda. xx
