DOMESTIC SHIPPING
Friends: We are NOT Amazon, we are a small, very personal business. Shipping costs money. With that said, we are always looking for ways to bring our shipping costs down. Short story long, we have split the US into four shipping zones: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, and West Coast.
Shipping rates reflect where a package is going and the package's volume, weight, and the distance it will travel from our home base in North Carolina. Hence, you will pay more for shipping if you live in California than, say, Virginia. That's the cost of business. Shipping isn't free, but we promise that you will love our products.
As a small business, we take great care with every package we send, but our flat-rate shipping is not guaranteed to arrive by a specific date. That means you won’t get next-day delivery, but you will receive a beautifully packed order from our small but mighty team in Thomasville, North Carolina.
If you need your order delivered by a certain time, you must choose expedited shipping at checkout. Please note:
- Expedited shipping does not include weekend delivery (we ship via UPS Ground).
- Expedited shipping is not available for orders delivered within North Carolina.
- Expedited shipping does not mean next-day delivery.

Please note that all sample orders (unless upgraded shipping is selected) will ship through the US Postal Service. All other products except furniture and rugs larger than 8’ x 10’ will ship via UPS Ground.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
Shipping charges for orders posting to destinations outside the continental United States (including Alaska and Hawaii) will be added at checkout. If you have an issue with International Shipping, please email us at hello@madcapcottage.com and we will get back to you within 24 hours.
What is White-Glove Shipping?
Our white-glove shipping service will deliver an item into the entry of your home. As this service is significantly more costly than traditional shipping methods, it is reserved for furniture, oversized home accessories, and rugs larger than 8’ x 10’. White-glove items will not be delivered without a scheduled delivery appointment. Once the shipper has collected your order from us, they will reach out to you to schedule the delivery.
What if I need an item moved up or down stairs, unpacked, or placed in a specific location within my home?
Basic white-glove shipping rates cover the moving of furniture, oversized accessories, and large rugs into the entry of your home. If you would like to have these items placed in a specific room of your home--or moved up a flight of stairs (or two!)--please reach to us at hello@madcapcottage.com for adjusted rates.
I received a damaged item. What should I do?
- You have the right to refuse the item. Please document any and all damage with very detailed photographs of the damage before refusing.
- Make a note of the damage on the delivery service’s paperwork before signing for the item. If you do NOT note the damage on the paperwork, it is likely that we will not be able to issue a refund or replace the item.
- Whether Option #1 or #2, you must reach out to us at hello@madcapcottage.com with your contact information, order number, description of damage, and detailed photographs of the damage. We will then work with you to correct the problem. Please hold onto any damaged packing as we will need to send photos of the box/boxes to the shipping service to settle the insurance claim.
I am missing an item from my order. What should I do?
Since some items ship directly from the manufacturer and others are shipped from our warehouse, your purchase(s) may arrive in more than one shipment. Your order confirmation will note how items have shipped and the number of shipments per order. Please check this information before contacting us. If you have checked this information and find that you are still missing part of your order, please reach out to us at hello@madcapcottage.com.
